Helpful Information For Your Portrait Session ~ To prepare for your session, you will need to carefully consider the look you want for your portraits. Discuss your ideas openly with me prior to your session so that we are all prepared when you we begin. Decide if you want to include props, whether you want contemporary and casual, or traditional and posed, or all of the above. ~ If photographing more than one person, it is always best to coordinate colors in your clothing. A great classic choice is always jeans, khakis or black bottoms and white long sleeve shirts, or even T-shirts. All black makes a dramatic statement, all white tends to look very casual and carefree, yet both of these choices are also classic and really emphasize the faces and interactions between the subjects. ~ Solid colors work best in most situations. ~ Long sleeves work best for shirts and blouses, pants or skirts work best on the bottom. Shorts and sleeveless shirts are not usually a good choice for portraits. ~ When bringing children in for portraits, please try to schedule your session for a time when they will be fed, awake and as attentive as possible for the best results in your portraits. ~ For your little ones - Please try to bring a snack and drink, suitable changes of clothing (just in case!) and a favorite toy or blanket. Sessions can be long and boring for them, and this will help them feel comfortable and keep them entertained. ~ You may bring your own props for your children! If your child has a special toy, book, blanket, ride-on toy, outfit, hat, costume etc...BRING IT ALONG! ~ I will contact you by phone or via e-mail to confirm your appointment. We will go over what to expect and what I have planned for you. At that time, you can tell me what you plan to wear, if outfit changes will be involved and whether you are bringing your own props, how many people will be in the portraits, etc. This way we will all be prepared for your session. ~ HOLD THE CHEESE PLEASE! Please do not tell your kids to smile or say "cheese". That is not the type of photography I do. If we get "cheese" smiles, I PROMISE, you will be unhappy with the outcome. I want everyone relaxed and natural. Most of the time, it's easier for young kids to relax and open up to me when the parents are not standing over them. They want to please everyone and don't know who to take direction from. If I ask you to let us have some time to interact, please allow us that. You will be MUCH more satisfied with your portraits this way. ~ Most of all...RELAX AND HAVE FUN! We want to capture you and your loved ones as you really are. This is NOT a stiff formal atmosphere. In fact I am in jeans and barefoot most of the time! Your portraits will be your cherished memories for years to come, and they should be a true reflection of who you are, not someone else's idea of what you should be. Keep an open dialogue with me before, during and after your session and I promise, you will not be disappointed with the results. MEMBER:
